Handmade Jewellery Crafted in Shropshire

Bardo Jewellery was created by Catherine Sawyer in 2018, bringing together her passions for Asian traditions and culture, renaissance art, churches and cathedrals, philosophy, religion and faith in her designs. Before this; Catherine studied foundation art and design at UWIC and jewellery and silversmithing at Kensington and Chelsea College before finding her own style and self teaching wax carving in her studio in Ladbroke Grove, London. Moving back to the Shropshire/Powys border and living in a converted morgue with friends inspired her to start Bardo Jewellery - Bardo being a Tibetan Buddhist belief regarding the intermediate stage between death and rebirth. She then spent four years living in Nepal which furthered her interest in Buddhist traditions and Asian design. Now back in Shropshire after finishing her MSc in clinical neuropsychiatry, Catherine has worked in mental health roles alongside her jewellery business.
